Bil is a un-conference whose main purpose is sharing the unlimited, unconditional and free knowledge through various stakeholders’ ambitions dreaming of a better world. BIL was launched in 2007 by Todd Huffman and Bill Todd and presents itself as a real alternative to TED and Pop Tech offering the possibility to organize the same events without license limit, hearing or broadcasting rights. This new concept has arrived in Tunisia in May 2011 through its coordinator Abdelkarim Ben Abdallah. The first session was held September 8, 2012 in Tunis and other sessions followed both at the university level (FST. ENIT...) in several regions of Tunisia (Sayad, Kef, etc.) |
The Tunisian Bloggers Association was founded in May 2011 by Fatma Riahi and a group of bloggers whose main purpose was to promote blogging, citizen journalism and all kind of online expression. The aim of the blogging open workshops is to train participants in the techniques of writing, photo, and video, defending the digital human rights and the promotion of the online freedom of expression. Live blogging workshops crossed most of the Tunisian territory, since the first session, starting with the Greater Tunis and reaching the south. |
The SMC was created in 2006 in San Francisco by Chris Heuer, in a first informal version aiming to "identify, develop and disseminate the new media best practices" The SMC is based on discussion sessions and online info sharing on topics related to media (mainly "Web 2.0"). Later, the SMC enlarged its community to the interest of the web entrepreneurs, PR, journalists, bloggers, academia, etc., while the concept was exported to other cities in the United States to finally exceed the boundaries.
